I'm a UX Designer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have a lot of passion and experience helping people and solving their problems. I enjoy challenges and using research and testing to create and validate my designs. UX makes me feel like everyday is a new and rewarding experience. I love that I'm able to continually learn and grow.
My UX story is not a conventional one. For six years I worked with law enforcement. I started as a 911 dispatcher and it was my dream job that I thought I would never leave. Every day and every call was a challenge and a new opportunity to help someone, this was the place where I learned true empathy and how to use it to give people the best experience I could. Dispatch is a very fluid job. Techniques, software, and people are always changing and I thrived working in a fast paced environment.
Dispatching comes at a high price and eventually takes a physical and emotional toll on everyone. I gave up dispatching to spend more time on the weekends and holidays with my family. I never thought that I could find a job that I would enjoy more, however I found UX and it fit right in to my love for making a difference and solving problems. UX design is not just making something look nice, it's using a human centered design approach to reach people and create what they need to enrich their lives.
